Artists’ Apartments John’s Square: Limerick City and County Council
Limerick has a comprehensive arts infrastructure that includes theatres, exhibition spaces, studios and performance spaces, but did not have viable places for artists to live. The presence of companies of national importance, whose dedicated role is to initiate and produce work, is a significant factor in Limerick.
Locis: Leitrim County Council
Locis was a collaborative programme, co-funded by the Culture Programme of the European Union, between Leitrim County Council Arts Office, Ireland; the Centre of Contemporary Art in Toruń, Poland; and Botkyrka Konsthall, Sweden. Locis was designed to provide knowledge, resources and opportunities for artist.
Support for Writers: Waterford County Council
For the past six years, Waterford has been making a significant investment in its’ writers. Initially through the Artlinks* partnership, writers were identified who wished to avail of literature mentoring opportunities. Since then writers who are concentrating on their professional development were afforded one to one sessions with a writer on a regular basis.
The Emerging Visual Art Award: Wexford County Council
The Emerging Visual Artist Award is a partnership initiative between Wexford Arts Centre, Wexford County Council and the Arts Council. The initiative supports promising visual artists in Ireland with an award of €5,000 and a solo exhibition at Wexford Arts Centre.
