The Emerging Visual Art Award: Wexford County Council
The Emerging Visual Artist Award is a partnership initiative between Wexford Arts Centre, Wexford County Council and the Arts Council. The initiative provides promising visual artists in Ireland with an award of €5,000 and a solo exhibition at Wexford Arts Centre. It is aimed at recognising and supporting the development of committed emerging artists by kick starting their career and achieving professional recognition.
The award programme has been running successfully since 2006 and has gained a reputation both locally and nationally, providing artists with an invaluable resource to further their practice and career. Past recipients of the award have gained national exposure and further exhibition opportunities have become available to them. Past recipients include: Seamus Nolan, Karl Burke, Vera Klute, Niall de Buitléar, Bridget O’Gorman, Cecilia Danell, Teresa Gillespie and Dragana Jurisic.
By opening the award to artists working all over Ireland and engaging professionals who have the appropriate expertise to review submissions, the award partners are guaranteeing that the resulting exhibitions are of an exceptionally high standard.
