Roscommon County Youth Orchestra: Roscommon County Council Arts Office
RCYO is an award winning music development project dedicated to promoting participation in music by young people from the age of 10 years upward in County Roscommon. It is a partnership project between Roscommon County Council and Galway Roscommon Education and Training Board with the support of the Arts Council and Roscommon Leader Partnership.
To ensure that young people in the county have equal geographic access to the service, RCYO has different sections of the orchestra located in different towns around the county.
Members take part in a weekly lesson, usually in groups of two or three. They also attend an ensemble practice each week. One Saturday each month, all sections come together for a full orchestra rehearsal.
Members have access to an Instrument Bank and all music is provided free of charge.
